History of ECM Coffee Machines

Wolfgang Hauck, the company’s founder, and head of ECM Manufacture GmbH has been active in the espresso business for more than 25 years and was highly influential in the institution of Italian espresso culture in Germany.
Before marketing his own products, Hauck was, for many years, the exclusive importer of Italian espresso machines, such as Gaggia, Cimbali, Pavoni, Quick and Vibiemme. For several years, Hauck has been joined in the management by his son, Michael Hauck, who adds his own excellent technical expertise and aptitude for design to the company bringing in new ideas into production and development.Wolfgang Hauck founded ECM GmbH in 1996, advancing his idea to develop and market espresso machines for the upscale household and office sector. Consequently, he joined forces with Friedrich Berenbruch of ECM SPA Co. in Milan who up until that time produced commercial machines only. The goal was to utilise professional components in the new home machines.
The cooperation with ECM SPA was terminated in 2005.
The design and construction, and with it the entire development, was relocated to Germany. The technical development and the quality management from now on are situated in Neckargemünd as well. Merely the assembly of the machines is imparted to a subcontractor as an elongated ‘workbench’.
The entire production process was taken over by ECM in 2007. From this point on all espresso machines are assembled in Milan by a company we acquired, and which had been the production site of our former partner ECM Srl. This company was already responsible for the production of the first household series of ECM machines.For many years, ECM Manufacture stands for the highest quality and technical innovation, basing its design on the nostalgic 1960s-style.
With conviction and passion, we are working on the continuous development of our products. When selecting our components, we put great emphasis on their high quality and avoid using plastic.
The claim is always the same one: creating premium espresso machines of the highest functionality and optimum product appeal, combined with an excellently manufactured stainless-steel body – an optic and flavourful highlight. The ECM Manufacture models are no mass-produced articles but are diligently manufactured using high-quality components.
